VCE VET Dance in Blackburn

Kallista Dance Academy offers VCE VET Dance Units 1&2 and 3&4. Students from any dance school or any Secondary College can undertake VCE VET Dance at Kallista Dance Academy. 

Class Structure

Kallista Dance Academy partners with Dance Training Organisation (RTO 45789), who deliver the course online via weekly Zoom classes. These classes will be held onsite at KDA and supervised by a KDA teacher. All DTO trainers are all highly skilled. Trainers are required to regularly update their skills and are annually reviewed to ensure the highest quality training. DTO trainers always consider individual student needs and are experienced in tailoring the course for their students with the help of the DTO network.

Contact Hours

VCE VET dance classes weekly on Thursdays 4.15-6.30pm

  • 4.15-4.30pm set up/question/discussion session with our KDA teacher

  • 4.30-6.30pm on zoom with DTO

Weekly KDA classes in the style of your chosen dances, ie. Jazz and Contemporary (these may be done at your own dance school) 

Private lessons delivered by KDA staff to learn or adapt 2 dances (these may be done at your own dance school) 

  • For those wishing to do a scored assessment, these must be solos and they make up 50% of your ATAR score. We recommend 30 minute classes weekly if learning new dances (this will normally be for 3 terms). 

  • For those not doing a scored assessment, these dances may be a duo, trio or group dance but one element must include a small solo section. 

Cost

  • $1,700 for year 1 (units 1&2) paid to DTO annually (many secondary schools will cover this fee)

  • $1,750 for year 2 (units 3&4) paid to DTO annually (many secondary schools will cover this fee)

  • $300 (GST free) per term paid to KDA for onsite learning

  • $85 p/h (GST free) for private lessons taken at KDA

  • Regular KDA term fees apply for weekly classes done at KDA

Course information 

VCE VET Dance is a nationally recognised dance course. CUA20120 Certificate II in Dance with elements of CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance. 

VCE VET Dance is a pre-vocational course, and will prepare you to audition for further training as dancer, dance teacher or choreographer. The course allows you to gain knowledge on the dance industry, how it works, what is expected of you and possible pathways within dance. 

The VCE VET Dance program is drawn from a national training package and offers a portable qualification which is recognised throughout Australia. This qualification provides students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training in the live performance industry. 

Scored assessment is available for the Scored Units 3 and 4 sequence of the VCE VET Dance program
