Dance Classes Blackburn
Thirty-seven years in the one neighbourhood means a lot of Blackburn grandparents, parents and now children have all danced through our doors at some point. It's that kind of generational trust, built up over decades rather than seasons, that keeps families coming back.
Blackburn families often start with one child trying a Pre-School class and end up with two or three dancing together over the years. Siblings sharing the car trip, the uniform hand-me-downs and a love of dance is one of our favourite things to watch happen.
Just over the border from our Blackburn South studio, Blackburn families are some of the closest to Kallista Dance Academy (KDA), close enough that a free trial class barely disrupts the afternoon school run.

What We Teach
Ballet (RAD syllabus): graceful, structured classical training that builds posture, discipline and a lifelong foundation for every other style.
Jazz: upbeat music, sharp technique and plenty of room for individual flair, for dancers aged 3 through to adults.
Tap: a brilliant style for developing a real ear for music, taught with plenty of encouragement and good humour.
Hip Hop: street-style energy and current music, a favourite with dancers who want something a little different.
Contemporary: expressive and technically rich, popular with our senior and competition dancers.
Acro: strength-building and genuinely exciting, from a first forward roll to more advanced tumbling for older students.
VCE VET Dance: for senior students combining a love of dance with genuine, assessable VCE credit.
Yoga: relaxed, non-performance classes with qualified teacher Liliana, a calming complement to our more energetic dance styles.
Getting to KDA
Blackburn sits directly north of Blackburn South, so most families reach us via Blackburn Road or Middleborough Road in well under ten minutes. Free parking is available at our studio on Indra Road and surrounding streets.

A $25 non-refundable enrolment fee applies per student, then term fees start from $162.25 for a 10-week term (30 minutes a week) and scale up with the hours danced. Family discounts of 5–10% apply for two or more dancers, plus an extra 10% off for early payment by week one of term. For more information, please see our full fee schedule..

Classes for 2026 start Wednesday 28 January. Term 1 runs 8–10 weeks, Term 2 runs 9–10 weeks, Term 3 runs a full 10 weeks, and Term 4 runs 9 weeks, with exact dates depending on your class day. For full term dates, please see our dance class timetable page.

KDA has been family-run from the same Blackburn South studio since 1989 (over 37 years) with a long-standing team of experienced teachers rather than high staff turnover. Our two fully equipped, air-conditioned studios hold dual RAD ballet and ADA acrobatic certification under one roof, and we operate under a formal Child Safe Standards Statement of Commitment.

Yes, every student is invited to take part in our Mid Year Display towards the end of Term 2 (an informal, no-costume showcase for family and friends) and our End of Year Concert in early December, performed in full costume.

Most students perform twice a year on our own stages: the Mid Year Display and the End of Year Concert. There are optional extra opportunities for those who want more, including our competition troupes (this year, the Warrnambool Eisteddfod) and community performances such as local fetes, Jazz Festivals and Carols by Candlelight.
