Events
KDA have a range of events and performance opportunities throughout the year.
-
R.A.D. Ballet assessments, examinations and class awards are available but not compulsory for ballet students from Sub Junior classes and above.
The syllabus for each grade can be examined, presented to the examiner in a class environment or entered as a class award.
More information will be distributed to ballet students throughout the year.
-
The Mid Year Display will be held towards the end of Term 2. We will issue the date and venue as soon as the bookings have been confirmed.
No costumes or rehearsals are required for these days, it is simply an opportunity for students to show parents and friends what they have achieved for the year, and to give the students another opportunity to perform. The show/shows that are applicable to you/your child will be distributed in Term 2.
-
Our hard working VCE VET students perform their dances on stage throughout the year. This is an important part of their assessment for each semester.
-
Competition troupes are optional for students within the school. Private Lessons can be organised for solo/duo/trio routines for all intermediate and senior students. This year we plan to compete in the Warrnambool Eisteddfod which is normally held during the 2nd week of the July school holidays with troupes perfoming on the Saturday.
You can only enrol in a competition class if you are participating in the equivalent technique class. For Contemporary Competition classes you must be in a Ballet or Contemporary class and for Jazz you must be enrolled in a Jazz or Hip Hop class. If you think your child is suitable for a genre but you are unsure, please check with the principal.

The end of year concert is planned for early December. We will issue the date and venue of these shows as soon as the bookings have been confirmed. The show/shows that are applicable to you/your child will be distributed at the start of Term 4.
A number of rehearsals will be held for the preparation of the end of year concert. These dates will be advised closer to the days.
All children that perform in the end of year concert will be required to buy a dance body stocking which is basically a skin coloured leotard and is designed to be worn under dance tights and costumes. They can be purchased from the dance shops or via online stores. Any brand or style is acceptable. Google ‘dance body stocking’ to see some images if you are unsure what they are. They are to wear their body stocking to the performances and leave them on for the duration of the shows.
-
We organise photo sessions for all classes during our end of year rehearsal period. The students are photographed in all of their costumes that they will be wearing for the end of year concert. Individual shots are taken. Group shots may be taken.

During the course of the year we are asked to participate in various community events such as school fetes, Jazz Festivals, Carols By Candlelight and others. Where possible we like to participate in such events as it gives the students another avenue to perform and promotes community spirit.
