KDA Dance Uniform

KDA has a uniform for each age group. We believe a consistent uniform helps students feel part of the KDA community, builds confidence, and ensures everyone can move comfortably and safely while allowing teachers to clearly assess posture, alignment and technique. Students also wear their uniform onstage for our Mid Year Display performance.

For our End of Year performance, students wear costumes provided by KDA. All children who perform in the end of year concert will be required to buy a dance body stocking, which is basically a skin coloured leotard and is designed to be worn under dance tights and costumes. They can be purchased from the dance shops or via online stores. Any brand or style is acceptable. Google ‘dance body stocking’ to see some images if you are unsure what they are. They are to wear their body stocking to the performances and leave them on for the duration of the shows.

    Specific boy variations for each genre:

    • Ballet: Black ballet shoes

    • Jazz: Black jazz shoes (not required for pre-school, sub juniors, juniors or sub inters)

    • Tap: Lace up black full sole tap shoes

Hair Requirements

Hair to be tied back in either a ponytail, bun or equivalent. For safety reasons, no plaits please and students whose hair length is past their waist MUST be in a bun. For ballet classes, hair must be in a bun.

Students must have correct shoes and uniform by week 4 of Term 1.
