What We Teach
Ballet (RAD syllabus): under the Royal Academy of Dance syllabus: elegant, precise, and a wonderful base of strength and coordination for dancers of any age.
Jazz: confident, expressive and endlessly fun, building rhythm and performance quality from Pre-School right through to Advanced.
Tap: sharp, rhythmic footwork set to music, a firm favourite for dancers who love hearing their progress as much as seeing it.
Hip Hop: fresh choreography and great music make this one of our most requested classes.
Contemporary: expressive, freeing movement that lets dancers tell a story with their whole body.
Acrobatic Dance (ADA syllabus): safely taught tumbling and flexibility work under our ADA certification, building real physical confidence.
VCE VET Dance: for senior students combining a love of dance with genuine, assessable VCE credit.
Yoga: relaxed, non-performance classes with qualified teacher Liliana, a calming complement to our more energetic dance styles.
Getting to KDA
Camberwell families generally travel east via Riversdale Road or Toorak Road, with the drive to our Blackburn South studio taking around fifteen to twenty minutes. Free parking is available on Baratta Street, just around the corner from the studio on Indra Road.

Yes, every student is invited to take part in our Mid Year Display towards the end of Term 2 (an informal, no-costume showcase for family and friends) and our End of Year Concert in early December, performed in full costume.

Most students perform twice a year on our own stages, the Mid Year Display and the End of Year Concert. There are optional extra opportunities for those who want more, including our competition troupes (this year, the Warrnambool Eisteddfod) and community performances such as local fetes, Jazz Festivals and Carols by Candlelight.

KDA has a specific uniform for each age group, from Pre-School through to Advanced/Adults (plus a separate boys' uniform), designed to help students feel part of the KDA community, move safely and comfortably, and let teachers clearly assess posture and technique. Hair must be tied back in a ponytail or bun (a bun is required for ballet), with no plaits. Full detail for every level is on our Uniform page.

Uniform and shoes are available from Upstage Dancewear (Nunawading and Dandenong), Danceart (Croydon and the CBD), Dancewear Central (Lilydale), Knox Dancewear (Burwood Highway, opposite Knox City), Bloch (Doncaster, Chadstone and the Southbank Complex), Energetiks (Bentleigh, Fountain Gate, Essendon, Moorabbin and Ivanhoe), Sansha (Ripponlea), Capezio (Elsternwick), or Target, Kmart, Big W and Best & Less, which often stock basics. KDA-branded windcheaters and singlets are purchased separately through the iClass Pro Portal. Students need their full uniform by week 4 of Term 1.
